Hairspray

May 23 to June 13, 2015 - Music by Marc Shaiman. Lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters.

Hairspray

It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire—to dance on the popular Corny Collins TV show. When she finally gets her break, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network, all without denting her ’do. The winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, HAIRSPRAY is a high-energy, family-friendly treat, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs like “Good Morning, Baltimore”; “Welcome to the ’60s”; “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now”; and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” Join us for this warm-hearted, wacky tale of a determined teen whose unlikely stardom helps her fight for what’s right.
