CoronavirusMarch 13, 2020

Dear SBMT Patrons and Members,

You’re undoubtedly aware of the turmoil all local theatre companies are facing with the current coronavirus pandemic, which includes cancellation and postponement of performances. Our local government has also issued strict guidelines by which South Bay Musical Theatre will abide in order to help protect our community.

At this time, we have not cancelled or postponed performances of our upcoming spring productions, “South Pacific” (May 16 to June 6, 2020) or “The Fabulous 40s” big band concert (May 30 – 31, 2020). However, as a precaution to reduce the impact of any potential cancellation/rescheduling, we have suspended ticket sales for all performances of these two shows. If you are already a ticket holder, you will be informed immediately about your options in the event that anything changes regarding the show schedule.

We’re at the point of beginning rehearsals and other preparations for these productions (building sets, creating costumes and props, etc.) These activities may also be impacted by the restrictions on group gatherings, so it’s possible we may need to do some re-imagining of how we can best present the shows to our audiences. Again, we’ll keep you informed of what’s going on, and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

We wish everyone in our community the best for staying safe and healthy in this difficult environment. SBMT maintains its commitment to presenting high-quality musical theatre to you, but our first concern is for your well-being.

Thank you for your continuing support of our community theatre company, now in its 57th season.

Sincerely,

Jay Steele, SBMT Board Chairperson
Sara K. Dean, SBMT Executive Director
