On behalf of the Board of Directors at South Bay Musical Theatre, we hope that you and your family are safe and healthy in the current pandemic environment. We are committed to doing our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and of course will continue to comply with all of the recent restrictions on group gatherings. Sadly, these restrictions have so disrupted our rehearsal schedule that we are forced to cancel our upcoming spring productions, “South Pacific” (May 16 to June 6, 2020) and “The Fabulous 40s” big band concert (May 30 – 31, 2020). Although this is heartbreaking news for our performers, designers, artists, musicians, and patrons-and an unexpected financial burden for our company-we know it is the right decision to protect our community.
As a small, non-profit theatre, SBMT exists to lift up the community, and we believe that the arts are vital to that mission. These forced cancellations, as you can appreciate, will dramatically impact our budget for the year unless we can offset them with additional fundraising. If you are currently holding a ticket for either of these productions, you can help by donating your tickets back to us to help reduce the impact of these devastating losses. You will be receiving an email today with this same message, and will be asked to reply with the word “DONATE” or “REFUND” (by April 10) depending on your preference. If you do ask for a refund, we ask for your patience due to the size of the task and the limited volunteers available to process your request.
If you have any questions, you can also reach our box office by phone at 408-266-4734.
South Bay Musical Theatre thanks you for your continued support and patronage in this difficult time. If you’re able to make an additional monetary donation right now, it will be especially helpful to ensure our future: https://southbaymt.com/donate
As Lee Ann Payne, our “South Pacific” director, recently said, we can’t wait for the “explosion of artistic spirit when this crisis is over!” With your generosity, SBMT will be there to bring that artistic spirit into your life for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Jay Steele, SBMT Board Chairperson
Sara K. Dean, SBMT Executive Director
