SBMT gratefully acknowledges the long-time service of our Facilities Director, Jeffrey Henson, who retired at the end of our 2022-2023 season. Jeffrey has been active with our group since first appearing as Buffalo Bill in 2004’s Annie Get Your Gun. In addition to being a frequent performer in shows like Beauty and the Beast, 1776, She Loves Me, Man of La Mancha, and The Will Rogers Follies, he served many terms on the Board of Directors and managed SBMT’s facilities for over a decade. He was the recipient of the 2012 Fred Hassett Award for his contributions growing the company and the Silver Jacket Award for his volunteer service.
Jeffrey’s numerous technical contributions included outfitting the set shop and rehearsal studio with a full range of infrastructure and equipment, heading set construction for our productions, and lending a skilled hand wherever it was needed. Jeffrey was our “tech wizard” who could repair almost anything, and he relished the challenge of creating some of our shows’ most memorable and magical special effects. All of Jeffrey’s work—literally thousands of hours over the past 19 years—was as a volunteer. SBMT gives its sincerest thanks to Jeffrey for his significant contributions and commitment to the organization, and we wish him well as he pursues new opportunities.
