After a string of successful, uplifting productions and sold out performances, South Bay Musical Theatre is announcing it has secured the rights to produce Come From Away—one of Broadway’s most acclaimed modern musicals—set to take the stage in January–February 2027 as part of our upcoming 64th season. It will be directed by Chris Reber and choreographed by Lee Ann Payne.

This heartwarming true story, which won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and Best Original Score, celebrates the extraordinary kindness of ordinary people. When nearly 7,000 airline passengers were stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001, the locals opened their homes, their hearts, and their pantries to complete strangers. Out of tragedy came a testament to humanity, generosity, and unity—themes that feel more vital than ever.

The rest of our Season 64 (2026–2027) lineup won’t be announced until early 2026, but we can promise it will feature a mix of beloved classics and uplifting stories—productions that offer escape, empathy, and enrichment for audiences of all ages.

For now, we couldn’t be prouder to share this news. With Come From Away, South Bay Musical Theatre continues its mission of delivering Noteworthy Entertainment—musicals that move your heart, lift your spirits, and bring our community closer together.
