As South Bay Musical Theatre’s 63rd season draws to a close, we’re feeling two emotions at once: gratitude for an incredible year and excitement for what comes next. We’re also facing two important deadlines that our patrons won’t want to miss.
First, there are only three performances remaining of In The Heights—Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—and available seats are disappearing quickly.
As of this writing, our “Thrifty Thursday” performance has only scattered single seats remaining in the center section, aisle seating is completely sold out, and just a limited number of pairs remain in the side sections. Friday evening’s performance has the most availability, including some in the back rows of the center section, but with very few aisle seats left. Saturday’s closing matinee is virtually sold out, with only a handful of single seats here and there.
If you’ve been meaning to see this joyful, energetic celebration of community, family, and “little dreams,” now is the time to secure your tickets.
The second deadline involves our upcoming 64th Season, and the initial response has been gratifying. Since subscriptions went on sale in April, renewals and new orders have been arriving at a pace that suggests even greater demand than for this past season—which was already among our most successful in recent memory.
Each year, current subscribers enjoy the privilege of retaining their reserved seats. Following a long-standing tradition, “final notice” reminders are being taped to subscribers’ seats during the run of In The Heights. Once the show closes, those reminders will all have been delivered, and subscribers who delay their renewals risk losing seats they may have enjoyed for many years. On July 1, when single tickets go on sale, any unclaimed subscription seats are released to the general public.
New subscribers are also encouraged to act promptly, because seating requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and early orders provide the best opportunity to secure preferred locations.
What shows are planned for next year?
The excitement surrounding Season 64 is easy to understand. We’ll open with Once Upon a Mattress, the beloved musical that many Saratoga theatergoers were looking forward to seeing in 2020 before the pandemic halted live theater. Our winter production, Come From Away, is already generating tremendous buzz as it makes its Bay Area community theatre premiere here at SBMT. The season concludes with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, another production that was previously announced but never had the opportunity to reach our stage because of COVID. This show was the most-requested musical in our audience survey a few years back.
We hope you’ve enjoyed the past season as much as we have loved bringing it to you, and that you—like us—are looking forward to the year ahead. Thanks for your support in a variety of ways: Whether you’ve attended performances, volunteered your time, made a donation, or encouraged friends and family to join us at the theater, your loyalty has helped us continue to thrive. We are grateful for your enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment to live entertainment, which inspires us daily.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our final performances of In The Heights and to another unforgettable season of musical theatre. See you soon!
