South Pacific - Bali Hai is calling youSouth Pacific

May 22 to June 12, 2027

Music by Richard Rodgers
Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan
Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Tales of the South Pacific” by James A. Michener

Rediscover the timeless masterpiece South Pacific, where sweeping romance, unforgettable songs, and profound storytelling come together in one of Broadway’s greatest works. Winner of 10 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this Rodgers & Hammerstein classic transports audiences to the Pacific islands during World War II, blending lush melodies with a powerful message about love, courage, and prejudice.

SBMT audiences will especially treasure this return to Rodgers & Hammerstein, following the company’s sold-out 2025 production of The Sound of Music. Featuring iconic songs like “Some Enchanted Evening” and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” South Pacific remains as emotionally resonant — and musically glorious — today as ever.

If by chance this well-known golden-age musical was before your time, watch the trailer below from the 2022 UK tour to get an idea of the story that awaits you.
