South Bay Musical Theatre thrives on the passion, generosity, and creative spirit of those who believe in the power of the performing arts to bring people together. Today, we are thrilled to announce the addition of an exceptional individual to our Board of Directors, Cathie Thermond, who embodies those qualities. She will bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and love for the arts to our organization.

Cathie Thermond

A lifelong champion of community service and the performing arts, Catherine (Cathie) Thermond has served in leadership and board positions with numerous nonprofit organizations across Saratoga and the larger Bay Area, including the Saratoga Union School District, Montalvo Arts Center, the Saratoga Foothill Club, and TheatreWorks.

Cathie is the former President and CEO of the Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation and a past Club President of the Rotary Club of Saratoga. Her outstanding dedication to community enrichment was recognized when she was named Saratoga’s Citizen of the Year in 2023.

An experienced fundraiser, Cathie played a key role in securing the funding to build Saratoga High School’s beautiful McAfee Performing Arts and Lecture Center. In 2011, the school’s “Little Theater” was renamed the Thermond Drama Center in honor of Cathie and her family’s contributions to keeping theatre alive in local schools.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Cathie to SBMT’s Board of Directors!
