South Bay Musical Theatre’s 2025–2026 season of Noteworthy Entertainment brings you a whole new spin on stories you know and love. Whether it’s through a new adaptation, a rare revival, or a creative concert experience, each show invites you to see something beloved in a new light.

To give you a better sense of what’s in store, I’ve matched each upcoming production with SBMT favorites from past seasons going back a decade and a half — because if you liked those, we think you’ll really love these.

Mainstage Musicals (11 performances each)

If you liked X, you'll love The Sound of Music

If You Liked Les Misérables, The Music Man, or Gypsy, You’ll Love The Sound of Music!

OK, maybe The Sound of Music is a show that needs no introduction, but please indulge me. Like Les Misérables (2013), it is set against a backdrop of political unrest, where doing the right thing comes with a cost. Like The Music Man (2010), it follows a visitor who changes a community through music. And like Gypsy (2016), it shows how family dynamics shift under pressure — especially when ambition and danger collide. All four tell powerful stories through unforgettable songs and characters facing turning points in their lives.

If you liked X, you'll love Little Women

If You Liked Funny Girl, She Loves Me, or Mame, You’ll Love Little Women!

Like Funny Girl (2013), Little Women centers on a fiercely independent woman trying to carve out a creative life on her own terms. Like She Loves Me (2020), it celebrates the joys and frustrations of close relationships. And like Mame (2018), it shines a light on unconventional women who live boldly and care deeply. All four shows put strong, smart women at the heart of the story — and let them shine.

If you liked X, you'll love In The Heights

If You Liked Brigadoon, Mary Poppins, or The Spitfire Grill, You’ll Love In The Heights!

On September 15, we were thrilled to announce our final show of Season 63: In The Heights, the Tony® winning Best Musical of 2008 written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the acclaimed composer of Hamilton. Like Brigadoon (2025), In The Heights is grounded in a place that feels timeless and steeped in tradition. Like Mary Poppins (2024), it’s about searching for something more — and realizing what matters most may have been there all along. Like The Spitfire Grill (2023), it explores the bonds people form when they come together to rebuild, rediscover, or start again. All four shows explore the meaning of home — and the ways we fight for it, find it, or create it.

Special Concerts (2 performances each)

If you liked X, you'll love On The 20th Century

If You Liked Singin’ in the Rain, On the Town, or The Will Rogers Follies, You’ll Love On the 20th Century (in concert)!

All four of these shows were written by the legendary team of Adolph Green and Betty Comden, known for their sharp wit, clever lyrics, and love of backstage mayhem. On the 20th Century brings those ingredients together in a fast-paced comedy set aboard a glamorous train. Like Singin’ in the Rain (2023), it pokes fun at showbiz egos. Like On the Town (2022), it’s bold and playful. And like The Will Rogers Follies (2009), it pulls back the curtain on theatrical spectacle — with a wink. Each of these musicals is a valentine to the stage itself, filled with chaos, charm, and larger-than-life characters.

If you liked X, you'll love Let It Show

If You Liked Broadway By The Decade (2025), Welcome to the Sixties (2023), or Broadway In Love (2022), You’ll Love Let It Show: A Broadway Holiday Celebration!

This original concert blends favorite Broadway tunes with songs that capture the spirit of the season. Like our past concerts, it’s curated with care, performed by familiar SBMT faces, and designed to celebrate connection and community. Whether you come for the nostalgia, the music, or the festive cheer, you’ll leave feeling a little more uplifted. Each of these concerts is a one-of-a-kind evening — personal, joyful, and rooted in what makes live theatre special.
